Russ’s formative years saw him nurtured by Staffordshire trainer, Reg Hollinshead, a man synonymous with developing the early careers of jockeys who would go on to become household names.
In 2012 Russ landed the Old Newton Cup and in 2013 the Old Borough Cup; both competitive Handicaps. His exploits in the saddle saw him travel to Dubai and to several European Racecourses.
Since 2019, Russ has turned his attention to Jockey Coaching and is employed by the British Horseracing Authority as a Regional Jockey Coach.
It is a charity event and takes place on Sunday 17th September 2023
